Oranje Print and Packaging Project

As a leading printing and packaging manufacturer in South Africa, Oranje Print and Packaging partnered with Rentech to implement a large-scale solar energy solution at their Senekal production facility.

The objective was to reduce rising electricity costs while improving long-term energy sustainability and operational efficiency.

Oranje Print and Packaging engaged Rentech to design and install a commercial solar PV and battery energy storage solution capable of supporting the facility’s energy demands during peak production hours.

Rentech successfully installed a 378 kWp solar photovoltaic system, supported by three 125 kW Sineng grid-tied inverters and a 221 kWh on-grid battery energy storage system (BESS).

The system generates clean renewable energy throughout the day while the integrated battery system helps optimise energy usage and manage peak demand.

This solution enables the facility to reduce its reliance on grid electricity while maintaining reliable power during operational hours.

Estimated savings:

Approximately R100,000 per month in electricity cost savings, delivering a strong return on investment while protecting the business against future electricity price increases.

Key Benefits:

  • Reduce reliance on grid electricity
  • Optimise energy consumption during production hours
  • Manage peak energy demand
  • Lower long-term operational energy costs
